Bank of Canada (BOC) is the central bank of Canada. Established in 1934 under the Canadian Banking Act, it aims to “promote Canada’s economic and financial well-being.” It is the only banknote issuer in Canada and the central bank of Canadian dollars.
The bank’s headquarters is located at 234 Wellington Street, Ottawa. Bank of Canada and its governor are responsible for formulating monetary policy, printing money and determining the interest rate of Canadian banks.
